January 24 (The Foolish Five Part 2) - Free Indeed - Abundant Living After Abuse

January 24

Please allow me to break this story a bit further by stopping here and telling you more about what the Ten Virgins signify. As I mentioned to you in my previous post, the two groups of virgins signifies those who profess the true faith in Jesus Christ and his soon appearing. I say profess because both groups know that the Bridegroom will return as prophesied“Behold, the Lord God shall come with a strong hand, and His arm shall rule for Him; Behold, His reward is with Him, And His work before Him.” Isaiah 40:10.

In the case of the Ten Virgins, they knew that the Bridegroom will come again but they do not know what time it is that He will appear.  They have told everyone that their Bridegroom will be coming and that they are His and that they will be ready for his soon return. Everything was set with the wedding preparations, the Virgins were I their best apparel, fine jewelry, clean and prepared externally, but there was one thing that sets the wise from the foolish apart and that is internal light (their lamps).

Matthew 5:14-16 - “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”
We need to be the light in a world of spiritual darkness, this is our Great Commission. When we are hurt by others, abused or mistreated, we tend to focus on us and how we can heal or remain in bitterness and anger. Our faith is tested and our hearts are yearning for relief but to no avail it seems but God has the greatest of plans.

So here I am. My new perspective is that when I am walking in the Light and embracing wisdom through Christ, completely surrendered to him so that I am a new creation, He will guide me to make the best decisions and through his power, my boundaries are set. Therefore, I don’t need people to love me, to accept me or to get approval because my desires He will take care of them. After all, Jesus is my Bridegroom, and because all the pain that I have endured and suffered and the pain and suffering that I have inflected on others and He has forgiven me as well He has healed me.

The Foolish Virgins knew the truth. They were keepers of the Great Commission, but their hearts and soul were not submitted to the Holy Spirit and they were not a new creation in Christ, they had not released the old man/woman.  These Virgins received the invitation but the seed of salvation did not penetrate their hearts. They were not hypocrites but rather resistant to the full surrender to the Bridegroom. The heart is moved and function through the Holy Spirit when we surrender to him and through him our lives change, our characters change and we become a new. The Five Foolish Virgins were superficial in action, belief, and their relationship with the Bridegroom. They were going through the motions professing the soon return but did not know Him intimately in Spirit. These Five Foolish Virgins were lovers of themselves rather than lovers of the Bridegroom.

Scripture states that prior to Jesus return there will be a difference in the classes of people that will let the world know Wise vs Foolish Virgins. 2 Timothy 3:1-5 “But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!

And this what Bridegroom said to the Five Foolish Virgins. He turned away from them because they were living superficial lives. That is why in Matthew 7:21-23 the Bible states that there will be people who believed that they were ready for his soon return, they prophesied in his name but they did not have the Holy Spirit (OIL) in their lamps. Scriptures says that “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’

If you have been hurt, abused, raped, discriminated or unjustly treated, stand up and know that the Bridegroom is coming! Will you be the Five Wise or the Five Foolish Virgins because of the abuses that you have endured?

My friend, no matter what abuse you have gone through, if you want to be free indeed, surrender it all to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (Bridegroom) and he will make you a new again. He knows your pain, your past, your present and your future.

Only Jesus can stop the pain and he will come again and when He does, his desire is that you and I will be there with him.

When that day comes, “God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.” Revelation 21:4
