January 5 (Interceptors At The Door Part I) - Free Indeed - Abundant Living After Abuse

January 5

Football is one of my least favorite sports, however, there is a lot to learn from this sport because most times it can be ruthless such as life. How so? Well, for some of us to achieve our goals in life and maybe in our relationships we have been known of being mean, ill spirited, judgemental, manipulative and the list can go on and on.

We were born into a sinful world and if we are not led by Biblical principles or for others good moral values as children we then enter into the game of life with the wrong playing equipment.

Therefore, I say ruthless because there is a great deal of combating, intercepting and tackling to achieve a touchdown to win the game.  The game for us believers is also called "the race" (spiritual warefare).  This fierce spiritual warfare takes place for a reason and everyone alive is playing in the game because the overall goal is our eternal life.

There are two teams in life, the winners and the losers. Christ Jesus is the winning team and then there is the enemy's team. So, I thought it would be fitting to use football as a means to express my thoughts.

What does an interceptor have to do with spiritual warfare? Well, the answer is simple,  as mentioned before, we are in a spiritual warfare and to survive this war we need each other but too often because of pain, abuse, betrayal we allow negative emotions in our lives that make it hard to choose Christ and to walk with God (the winning team). When we are not truly healed through Christ we cannot be part of the winning team that helps others to heal from their past hurts, pain and abuses. When we are abused, we cannot see beyond our pain and hurt and in time we lose hope because we have been intercepted by an abuser (s).

At times, it may feel as if our emotions, our core being and feelings have been high jacked and this is what an interceptor does. They seek to intercept those whom he or she can control through abuse or heal through love and compassion. How do you know you have been intercepted and by whom?

  1. If you were molested as a child, and you have not healed from your past, you have been intercepted. Enemy
  2. If your wife or husband cheated on you and left you broken, and you cannot heal from that, you were intercepted. Enemy
  3. If your mother does not love you, and you cannot forgive her, you have been intercepted. Enemy
  4. If every time you try to come back to church and someone treats you wrongfully, and you never return, you have been intercepted. Enemy
  5. If someone has spoken bad about you and you feel betrayed that you cannot see straight, you have been intercepted. Enemy
  6. If the Holy Spirit is working in your heart and your spouse decides to bring up your past and make you feel unworthy, you have been intercepted. Enemy
  7. If you have an addiction problem, and you are attempting to quit and someone reminds you of how you tried over and over again and have failed, you have been intercepted. Enemy
  8. If you have made a commitment to walk with the Lord and someone tells you that you are crazy, they are being interceptors. Enemy
  9. If people tell you that you cannot come back to Christ, yet the Holy Spirit is calling you, you are being intercepted. Christ the Savior
  10. If you keep fighting but you feel like you are losing the battle because of what others are saying about you, you are being intercepted. Enemy

There are so many other ways that you can be intercepted by the enemy that are not mentioned here but if anyone of these examples or worse applies to you, I am sorry that you have had to go through this and possibly alone.

Hopefully, what I'm about to say here brings comfort to you when I tell you that the Lord feels your pain.  Did you know that Christ is standing at your hearts door knocking and wanting to come in Revelations 3:20 to (intercept you from the enemy) but only with your permission. He knows that once you accept Him or rededicate yourself to him, he will heal you from your past hurts and pain. Most importantly, you will be like new. In fact, you will be a new creation. The scriptures state the following “therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”  2 Corinthians 5:17

Today, you can be intercepted for the Kingdom of Christ. Today, you can choose to be on the winning team and allow Christ into your heart and begin the healing process. The direction of your game starts today.

Do you want to be a new person in Christ? "Choose this day whom you will serve." Joshua 24:15
