Great
News!!! Today, I won the lottery, purchased a yacht, took a trip around the
world and came home and this all took place in my imagination. I did not win
the lottery and did all the above because it was all in my imagination.
Imagination is a great tool to have when escaping life's trials and
tribulations but is it a great tool after all?
Many
years ago a Christian song came out called "I Can Only Imagine" where
the singer describes what it would be like when he meets Jesus. I use this
example of an imagination drawn from FAITH in one day seeing our Creator face
to face. This song it clearly shows the substance of something hoped for in
this case (meeting Jesus) and the evidence not seen yet, but we know the time
will come when we will be face to face with Him. Is having faith part of having
a great imagination or is it something greater? So, I propose a question. What
is FAITH? The Bible says "Now faith
is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."
Hebrews 11:1
This
shows the imagination working for the positive because of faith, however, when
we have been hurt or we perceive that we have been hurt whether it is true or
not, and our imagination is deceiving us to believe something other than what
the Creator has for us then, we are in the spirit of strongholds. When I say in
the spirit of strongholds because the demonic spirits cannot force us to have
strongholds, but rather, they manipulate us humans to believe in something that
has no foundation. It is in this spirit world that then by our thoughts we can
be consumed as the father of all stronghold was consumed.
We
can honestly say that Lucifer before the fall did not take captive his
imagination and look how that worked out for him. Having an imagination that
glorifies Christ and brings us into total submission to Him is not wrong. This
is not my opinion…we were given imagination for a good reason but we must bring
our imagination in subjection to Christ. The Bible states on how we are to
treat our imagination “Casting down imaginations, and every
high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into
captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ” 2 Corinthians 10:5
When we are abused,
we may have had times where our imagination would protect us and most times
cause us to be destructive in our lives. I remember when I would really use my
imagination and in my mind I would be killing my abusers. Well, I had no idea
that when I was killing in mind I was thinking like Satan trying to kill Christ
Jesus throughout his lifespan on earth.
Our imagination
can work for us or against us, and this is where Satan creates strongholds on
us. When we are abused we go through so many thoughts and processes and this is
normal, what Christ wants us to do is to focus on Him no matter what the enemy
does to us. In our healing journey we need to know what is it that we focus on
the most and how is it affecting our imagination?
Do you have faith
that God will heal you and your imagination? Today, what do you think on the
most? How can the Holy Spirit help you in casting down your imagination? What
are your strongest strongholds? Are they helping you or destroying you?
