What would you do if someone
came to you and told you that the only way humanity would be saved was by sacrificing
your son or daughter, how would you react? Obviously, you and I would be
possibly making sure that the person will end up behind bars or at least in a
padded cell. Well, such the case happened thousands years ago when humanity
fell into the grips of Satan, God did the unthinkable. The Bible states that “God so loved the world, that he gave his
only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have
everlasting life.” John 3:16
The only way that we (humans)
could break free from Satan’s grips was to have the Son die on the cross for
us. Because of free will, Adam and Eve fell, but God had a plan as he always does.
Do you think that at the fall of humanity with sin now running the planet that
God sat on his throne and was surprised at what had just happened? No! He knew
that He had to send His son to die on the cross for you and me. What is even
more fascinating was that Jesus was not forced to die, but rather, Jesus accepted
his mission to die for you and me out of his own free will. The Bible states of
Jesus mission was something that he chose to do which was, laying down his life
for us “No one takes it from me,
but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and
authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father.” John 10:18
A heart meaning Jesus’s heart
was given up through his love for all hearts so that we may have life and more
abundantly as the Bible also states of why Jesus came “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and
to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they
might have it more abundantly.”
John 10:10
The nails did not keep Jesus on
the cross but rather it was his heart for our hearts that kept Him on the
cross. So, why would he not be concerned about your past pain, or your present
heartaches, or your sadness, brokenness, depression, abuse and much more? More
than Jesus suffered no one has, in fact, there is some strong evidence that
Jesus may have also been sexually abused while in the custody of the Roman
soldiers because they were known to do some horrific things back then. If they
did it to Jesus, why would even think that we would be exempt from any pain and
suffering. This is not to say that we should minimize your abuse, however, this
is saying that Jesus understands what we have gone through and to hold on to
Him since he knows your pain.
Today, you can seek his heart,
the only heart that will loved us unconditionally.
