There is an old hymn that I would sing
when I was a child. Usually, this hymn was sung during church revival and
everyone including the children would take part in singing “There Is Power In The Blood”
this rendition is by Tommy Coomes band with lyrics. There is Power in the blood but how
do we get this power? It is through the Holy Spirit that we are able to have a
power so great that we can overcome anything. This power gives us the will, the
desire and the yearning for a deeper connection with Jesus Christ.
This same power is the power that is needed to forgive our
abusers, to be whole again and to live life abundantly. When we begin our
healing from past abuses, we can be only victorious through the leading of the
Holy Spirit and our healing will be a testimony of what Christ has done in our
lives. The Bible states that “But you shall receive power when
the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me …” Acts 1:8
Several times in my speaking career and
preaching, people have come to me and have made comments that they cannot
believe that I have endured pain or abuse because I am not broken, I am not
displaying bitterness or I don’t look like an abuse person. This is when my
testimony shines the most, because I am a living testimony that God heals the
brokenhearted…the Bible says “He heals the brokenhearted and
binds up their wounds” Psalms
147:3
