We all know the famous three words at the beginning of a sentence that sets our attention. The three words usually starts with Once Upon A Time.
When referring to the ancient book called the Bible we know that the stories will be intriguing and true. There is a happily ever after as well as villains, damsels in distress and heroes.
The true story that I'm about to briefly tell you about takes place in a perfect land with a princes and a prince Adam and Eve Genesis 1 & 2. They were perfect and had a deep relationship with the King until they chose to follow the Kings enemy.
Prince Adam chose to sin against his King. He betrayed his King because of fear of losing the love of his life called Princes Eve. Once Prince Adam and Princes Eve sinned by betraying Christ, the world became the pit for all humanity. Since then, however, there have others who have survived the pit and their experiences should encourage us.
Pit Survivors in the Bible…
- Adam and Eve after the fall they realized their mistake and turned from their evil ways.
- Moses was for 40 years in the pit, but God worked on him.
- Joseph was sold into slavery by his own family, but God redeemed him.
- The woman at the well... All the men in her life used her and did not value her, she lived in the pit, but God sent His son, He went out of His way to meet her and set her free.
- Rehab the prostitute, she was in the pit and the Lord saved her and her family.
- Lot in Sodom and Gomorrah, he was in the pit.
- Jonah, he was intercepted by a fish, kept in the belly until God saw fit to release him so that Jonah could give the message of salvation to Nineveh.
- Jesus came to save humanity and with a simple kiss Jesus was betrayed and slaughtered. But Jesus rose again and his death revived the church.
Judas's betrayal of Christ placed Jesus in the pit. Jesus was betrayed by someone close to him. As survivors of childhood sexual abuse, clergy sexual abuse or rape we know that betrayal often is by someone closest to us.
Please listen to me, regardless of who pushed you into the pit, (friend, family or foe) you must know that your pit experience should not be a place where you breakdown and stay there but rather the pit should be a place where you breakthrough and break out to become who our Creator has designed you to be.
Because of sin we will all experience the pit. Even Christ experienced the pit and he did so so that we may have life and more abundantly.
Thank God he is far greater than any pit experiences. Great news! The pit maker (Satan) will also experience the pit but his experience will be eternal. Satan and unrepentant individuals will experience the pit which I call hell. This should give us more inspiration to breakthrough and be who God destined us to be so that we can go from the pit to His throne.
May you all be blessed and keep your focus on the throne.
