Recently, I posted one of Satan’s weapons which is discouragement
and how there have been some good examples of individuals in the Bible who were
discouraged. Well, the post was a good post but, some readers wanted to know
more about the spiritual battle that we are facing. So, I will give more
biblical specifics on the spiritual war and our weapons to use in this war.
In any war, one must learn everything about
the enemy. This information is called “INTEL” short for intelligence. So, what
do you know about Satan and his demons? Intel can be found in the Bible and it tells us that we have an
attacker, his mission and his ultimate plans for humanity. Below you will find
three things that are vital in this war.
1) Know your enemy and your Commander
in Chief.
2) Know your position.
3) Know your mission.
INTEL of ATTACKER “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy:”
Sword- Scriptures for battle -John
10:10
Commander in Chief’s PROMISE: “I am
come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly”.
Example of the Word used as a weapon:
When Jesus was fasting 40 days and 40 nights he was being tempted by Satan
himself. Jesus fought back “But he answered and said, It is written,
Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the
mouth of God” Matthew 4:4.
Jesus used ONLY the word which is the Bible
inspired by God. The SWORD (WEAPON) is
the Word to be used for battle.
OUR POSITION:
and ye shall hold your peace.”
Sword- Scriptures for battle -Exodus
14:14
Commander in Chief’s PROMISE: “The Lord shall fight for you…
Note: God will
take care of us as we go into battle for truth which is the gospel of Jesus
Christ. Knowing that He (Jesus) will fight for us, should give us strength when
the battle gets too hot.
OUR
MISSION- should we accept it 19 “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the
name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded
you:”
Sword- Scriptures for battle - Matthew
28:19-20
Commander in Chief’s PROMISE: “and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the
end of the world. Amen.”
Soldier
Military Training Manual - Ephesian 6:10-17
TRAINING INSTRUCTIONS: “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might”. 11 Put on the whole armor of God…”
GOD’S ENEMY: …“that ye may be able to stand
against the wiles of the devil. ”
ENEMY FORCES “12 For we wrestle
not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers,
against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness
in high places. 13 Wherefore
take unto you the whole armor of God,
that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to
stand.”
BATTLE
GEAR:
BELT OF TRUTH - “14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth”…
Note: In real
battle, this specific belt held up the breastplate so it would not slip off the
warrior. When dressing for battle, you would put on the belt first then the
breastplate. But most important, it protected your mid area where swords could
do a great deal of damage.
Truth keeps us in God’s covering and protection. It
does not mean that we never lie, it just means that truth always conquers ALL.
When we sin, we remove that special covering but we can obtain that covering
again when we come back to our Commander and Chief and ask him for forgiveness
of our sins. “If we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive our sins and
cleanse us from all unrighteousness” 1 John 1:9.
We cannot serve two masters” Matthew 6:24
